17 years 8 monthsTracy began her odyssey in the area of DevOps long before the term was coined. In the late 1980s she consulted Wall Street firms on ways to improve the software build & deploy process through automation. Having begun her programming career as a mainframe developer, she quickly recognized how the new ‘windows’ based datacenter lacked the build and deploy processes that were standard on mainframe systems. In 1995, she co-founded OpenMake Software, a private software company that specializes in the automation of cross platform, and accelerated software builds (compile/link standards). Her innovation in this area was recognized by IBM, leading to a board position on the newly formed Eclipse Foundation where she served for 5 years. Tracy has also worked with CA technologies in designing ‘Application Lifecycle’ solutions and presenting at many break-out sessions at CA World over the years.
In 2014, Tracy recognized that there was a gap in open source tooling around continuous deployment that could support enterprise Application Release Automation. This led to the formation of DeployHub, a new company focused on bringing open source Application Release Automation to the agile project team. DeployHub OSS was launched as an open source solution in the spring of 2017. She followed up the open source offering with the creation of DeployHub, a company that provides both support and a professional upgrade to meet the needs of the large enterprise. Tracy currently leads the DeployHub team with a focus on the future of software deployment specific to the needs of microservices and Kubernetes.
Tracy speaks at DevOps conference 2 to 3 times per year and is a blog contributor at DevOps.com and ITChronicles.com. She was recently recognized as a Women In Technology (WIT) Honoree for her work in the DevOps area. You may also find her as an expert panelist on Webinars along with some of her friends at GitHub and CloudBees, or quoted in SDTimes articles around DevOps subjects.
Ms. Ragan has had extensive experience in the development and implementation of DevOps for large organizations. She began her consulting career in 1989 consulting to fortune 500 organizations in the areas of testing, configuration management and build management. It was during her consulting experiences that Ms. Ragan recognized the lack of DevOps management procedures for the distributed platform. In the years leading to the creation of OpenMake Software she worked with development teams in implementing a team-centric standardized build and deploy process for Wall Street financial companies. Ms. Ragan served on the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors as an Add-in Provider Representative for 5 years. She has been published on numerous occasions and regularly speaks at conferences including CA World where she has consistently presented for the last 15 years.

Application Release Automation: Why the QA Pro Should CareThe speed of testing depends on a consistent software release process that can provide critical information when reporting issues. QA pros will benefit from a new set of DevOps tooling called application release automation, which drives continuous release deployment and provides visibility about what was deployed. |
